Domino is an ancient strategy game that dates back to 12th century China. It later spread to Europe, challenging players’ minds and strategies as they match and arrange the tiles. With its simple pieces yet endless fun, domino has been a favorite pastime at family gatherings and friendly get-togethers for centuries.
Starting the Game
The starting player places the first tile on the table. The next player (to the left) must play a tile that matches one of the open ends. For example, if the first player plays a five–three, the next player must play a tile with either a five or a three. Only one tile may be played per turn.
1.The starting player places a three–one tile; the open ends are three and one.
2. The second player plays a tile matching one open end (e.g.three–six), making the new open ends six and one.
3.The third player plays a tile matching an open end (e.g. six–three, so the open ends become one and six.)
4. The fourth player must play a tile containing either a three a one.
Drawing Tiles Rule
If a player cannot match either open end, they must draw from the stock until a playable tile is drawn.
- When only two tiles remain, the stock is considered exhausted.
- If still unable to play, the player passes.
- A player may choose to draw even with a playable tile, but once the stock is exhausted, they must play if possible.
End of the Game
The game ends in two situations:
- When a player has played all of their tiles.
- When all players are unable to make a move and the game is blocked.
If the game is blocked, the winner of the round is the player with the lowest total number of dots on their remaining tiles. This player scores the sum of both their own tiles and the total dots on all opponents’ remaining tiles.
Scoring Example:
Player A: 4, Player B: 9,Player C: 12
The lowest total is with Player A, who wins the round.
Player A scores: 4 + 9 + 12 = 25 points.
Winning the Game
A player wins the game upon reaching 100 points or more. For a shorter game, the target score can be set to 50 points.
Congratulations 🙂
